What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Evaluation Report from July 2024. ERO found outcomes becoming more equitable, with more students gaining NCEA at Levels 1, 2 and 3 over three years and Māori students closing the gap.

A majority of Year 7 to 10 students were at national expectations in literacy and mathematics, and a majority attended regularly measured against the Ministry’s target.

ERO also noted that the whānau group structure supports wellbeing, that Year 9 and 10 courses built around student interests had lifted engagement, and that senior students get personalised pathways backed by links with tertiary providers and Dunedin employers.

Next, the school is to refine and evaluate its Year 7 to 10 curriculum initiatives, embed bicultural practice and mātauranga Māori across learning areas, and strengthen literacy and mathematics teaching in every subject to lift achievement at all year levels.
